With our knowledge and experience within the Confined Space, confined space safety, confined space rescue and Work at Height industry we can provide clients’ with guidance and advice to best suit their business. Through discussion we aim to establish the end-goal, the business needs, the challenges and provide a strategic plan on how best to meet the objectives and legal compliance.

Total Access do not have any fixed approach with working with our clients’. We can work with you either as an extension to the health and safety management team or as an ‘independent’. Are able to provide advice and guidance with developing or reviewing existing policies, procedures, risk-mitigation strategies through to emergency planning or evaluating the effectiveness of an existing plan .

Equally we undertake compliance audits and inspections for our clients with a written report. This will provide feedback on the findings, observations, strengths identified and any areas that could be improved upon and why for your consideration.

Confined Space Rescue Provision

What is Confined Space Rescue provision?

TAR are a specialist service provider for all aspects of confined space rescue provision and confined space safety for workers required to undertake work activities in these high risk environments.

Why do I need it?

There is a legal duty to ensure the safety of those required to carry out any work within a place by definition of a Confined Space. This is covered under Regulation 5 (1) ‘Emergency arrangements‘ of The Confined Spaces Regulations 1997.

‘no person at work shall enter or carry out work in a confined space unless there have been prepared in respect of that confined space suitable and sufficient arrangements for the rescue of persons in the event of an emergency, whether or not arising out of a specified risk.’

To comply with the aforementioned legislation no one should enter or work in a confined space unless there are emergency arrangements in place that are appropriate for the level of risk involved in the task/space. These should include making provision for the extracting of workers from the confined space and making suitable provision for first aid and resuscitation equipment where this is foreseeable.

The rescue arrangements should include:

Suitable and sufficient risk assessment is carried out by a competent person.
Safe System of Work implemented to mitigate the risks identified and communicated to all concerned.
be carried out by technically competent persons in ‘rescue operations’ who are specifically trained in this provision and who understand the risks involved in rescue.
be executed by those competent and who are trained in resuscitation and resuscitation equipment.
be equipped to respond immediately due to the nature of the environment and activities being undertaken i.e. in most cases you only have minutes to complete a rescue successfully and usually one opportunity also.
